PET/CT Centre

The New Centre is a specialized imaging and therapy facility situated in Felix Dlamini, Durban, 4001. Imaging for cancer and other tumour related conditions. A PET/CT is an imaging tool that is able to diagnose, monitor and assist in the management of cancer patients and other tumour related conditions which are not

visible on other imaging modalities and are not evident physically or biochemically. It is the latest technique for early detection. The Discovery IQ is the latest product designed to direct medicine on the path of personalized care.

SPECT/CT Umhlanga Centre

The Nuclear Medicine department at Medigate Center, under the direction of Dr. Masha Maharaj, consists of a team of highly trained technologists and nursing staff, able to perform and provide excellent service in Nuclear Medicine diagnostic imaging and therapeutics.

The Centre is equipped with the latest and advanced SPECT Gamma camera and equipment for In vivo and In vitro labelling studies. The Nuclear Medicine services offered are kept in accordance with the latest scientific developments, standards and techniques.

DR MASHA MAHARAJ
HEAD OF DEPARTMENT OR NUCLEAR MEDICINE

Dr Maharaj did her MBBCh through Wits University, in Johannesburg. She specialized at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town where she obtained qualifications through the College of Nuclear Physicians of SA (FCNP), thereafter obtaining her Masters in Medicine (MMED) through Stellenbosch University. She obtained qualification in the European Board of Nuclear Medicine (FEBNM).

Dr Maharaj currently heads Imaging and Therapy Centres in the Kwa-Zulu Natal province and offers Nuclear Medicine therapies in Thyroid, Neuroendocrine tumours, Prostate cancer, Oncobeta therapy for skin cancer, bone metastases and radiosynovectomy.

Dr Maharaj is an active member of the South African Oncology Consortium (SAOC). She is a consultant on the peer review panel for the Consortium. Dr Maharaj is an active member of the South African Society of Nuclear Medicine and the Nuclear Physicians Association of South Africa.

She is published in several international journals and contributed her work in a chapter in a Cancer textbook. She has presented her work internationally.

Dr Maharaj is on the GB of the World association of Radiopharmaceutical and Molecular Therapy (WARMTH). Her interests are Oncology, Infection as well as Theragnostics.

Trisha Govender
CHIEF NUCLEAR MEDICINE RADIOGRAPER

Trisha Govender is a young, vibrant Nuclear Medicine Radiographer.

She began and completed her Nuclear Medicine training at King Edward VIII Hospital, graduating with a National Diploma in Nuclear Medicine through Durban University of Technology. Thereafter obtaining her Bachelor of Technology in Nuclear Medicine.

Trisha has trained and worked in the public facility for several years, where she gained a wealth of experience and skill in Nuclear Medicine.

Her experience has added a wider depth of knowledge and skill to our Department. Trisha oversees operations of the Department of Nuclear Medicine structure and training.

Her tactfulness and competency in the field reflects in her warmth, interaction and care for our patients. She is diligent and understands not only the Discipline but the greater landscape, its cultures and personalities prevalent across the industry which has made her join our successful team.

JENNIFER ROBERT
NUCLEAR MEDICINE RADIOGRAPHER

Completed Nuclear Medicine Clinical training at King Edward VIII Hospital.

Obtained National Diploma through Durban University of Technology (DUT). Also obtained BTech Degree Nuclear Medicine through DUT. Jennifer has worked in several provincial hospitals including KEH and Addington, and in Private practice for many years where she gained experience and skills in Nuclear Medicine techniques.

One of the highlights of her career was being awarded a fellowship from the IAEA to study Scintimammography at the Royal Free Hospital in London. This afforded her to gain global experience in her field.

She joined our Overport branch, Advanced Imaging Centre, providing excellent service in general diagnostic Nuclear Medicine imaging, and PET/CT.

Ramilla Singh
Practice and HR Manager

Ramilla Singh is a qualified HR Manager. She obtained the National Diploma in Personnel Management, BTech Degree in Human Resources Management and the Management Development Diploma. She has worked at the University of Durban-Westville/University of Kwazulu-Natal, Hire-it, Arres Plant Hire and the University of Zululand. She has a total of 37 years of experience at various levels as a Officer, Administrator and a Manager.

She has multiple skill-based competencies including group process intervention aimed at improving interpersonal relations and social interactions. This is directed to assist the company in achieving results, meeting goals, and accomplishing tasks. She is key management in enhancing and establishing our company mission statement.

MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

Sandra Naidoo has a total of over 20 years of experience working medical practices and Radiology. She is based at the Overport branch and has joined the branch from its inception 4 years ago and remains an integral part of our company. Her strong dedication and her genuine desire to serve in the medical field has allowed her to add value to our practice.

General Assistant

Hemrite Burath is employed as a General Assistant. She has a total of 14 years of clerical experience with Twin Clothing. Her involvement in assisting the Red Cross with their Outreach program has enabled her to gain valuable experience. Her desire and commitment to work with patients has compelled her to join our company. Hemrita is a loyal, dedicated and hard working person who is part of our great team.
